The muffin is a leavened cake with the typical mushroom shape, typical of American food culture, but now widespread in Europe and in Italia.Il muffin born "officially" in 1703 when the term "moofin" is registered in England. Do not know the exact origin of the term, it could date back to Old French moufflet (soft) or German Muffen, which means little cake. The muffins are born with less than noble origins: they were in fact prepared to be consumed by the easement with the leftovers of the previous day's bread and scraps of biscuit dough, mixed with mashed potatoes.
