Rainforest Alliance Cacao / Cocoa certification is a program and a label for sustainable farming of cocoa in the world. The Rainforest Alliance program comprises a reasonable handling of social and living conditions, farm management, agricultural practices and the environment. From January 2018 – in response to the increasing challenges of deforestation, climate change, systemic poverty, and social inequity – Rainforest Alliance officially merged with UTZ, an international non-governmental organization (NGO), whose main work is the provision of an environmental certification on sustainable agriculture and forestry.
